EU VAT Exemption – IT Networks Trade UK

At IT Networks Trade UK, we are committed to making international purchasing simple, transparent, and fully compliant for our EU customers. Understanding VAT obligations when trading between the UK and the EU can be complex, so we aim to clearly outline how VAT is applied and what you can expect when placing an order with us.

Zero-Rated UK VAT on Exports:

All eligible goods shipped from the UK to EU countries are zero-rated for UK VAT. This means IT Networks Trade UK does not charge UK VAT on your purchase at the point of sale. However, this does not eliminate VAT entirely—it is instead applied in your destination country under EU import regulations.

VAT ID Requirement for EU Customers:

To benefit from VAT exemption on UK exports, EU business customers may be required to provide a valid VAT Identification Number (VAT ID) at the time of purchase.

  • The VAT ID must be accurate and verifiable

  • Orders may be held or processed with VAT if a valid VAT ID is not provided

  • IT Networks Trade UK reserves the right to validate VAT details before applying zero-rated treatment

This ensures compliance with cross-border tax regulations and helps avoid delays in order processing.

Import VAT & Customs Responsibilities

When your order arrives in the EU, it will be subject to import VAT and any applicable customs duties, based on your country’s tax rates. These charges are typically collected by customs authorities or the delivery carrier prior to final delivery.

All commercial goods entering the EU are subject to import VAT, regardless of order value.

Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS):

For shipments valued at €150 or less, the Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) scheme may be used to simplify VAT collection. This allows VAT to be charged at the point of sale, reducing customs clearance time and improving delivery efficiency.

VAT Treatment on Services:

For EU-based businesses purchasing services, VAT is typically handled through the reverse charge mechanism:

  • IT Networks Trade UK does not charge UK VAT

  • The customer accounts for VAT locally in their EU country

  • Invoices may be issued as “VAT out of scope”, depending on the service type and VAT status

Northern Ireland Considerations:

Due to the Northern Ireland Protocol, VAT treatment for transactions involving Northern Ireland may differ from standard UK–EU trade. If applicable, we recommend confirming details with our team to ensure correct handling.

Dedicated Export Support:

Our team is here to support you at every stage of your purchase, ensuring full clarity and compliance with VAT requirements. We aim to make cross-border transactions as efficient and hassle-free as possible.
